66˚North Sponsors Successful Ascent of Hvannadalshnukur

Damn! This looks cool.

One hundred thirty hikers started the day and 128 reached the summit.

After seeing these pictures, I'm a believer. How cool for a company, like 66˚North, to take a group of normal people (not sponsored, elite athletes) to a stunningly beautiful place and offer the opportunity to achieve something truly impressive! One of the primary goals of this hike was to raise awareness of global glacial melt. What better way to get people involved than to show them what we should be fighting for?Kudos 66!

Verde Kids Gone Wild

Thomas-apalooza rolled into town again this weekend and with it the end of sanity as we know it. Not sure if it's those big googly eyes or that ear piercing "Toot Toot" or the sinister Sir Topham Hat, but something is turning Durango's perfectly normal toddlers into zombie-eyed, tattoo sporting creatures of darkness. If you don't believe me, just try to get one of them to leave the train station....scary stuff. Good luck if it reaches your town.

Illuminated Ice Cream Ball a Mix Between Disco Chic and Halloween Spooky

Talk about brand loyalty. This fan of the Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker figured out a way to light up the ball and then videotaped it as she rolled it around the floor. Truthfully, I find it oddly captivating ~ though, recommendations for a soundtrack are welcome.

Scaling the New York Times Building

As our friends at Base Camp Communications so eloquently pointed out, Verde has been spending a bit of time in NYC lately. In fact, two of our folks just returned from a very successful trip last week.

Also in NY last week, were two other folks - both of them decided to scale the NY Times Building. Too bad we weren't in a meeting with them at the time, because one of the climbers was wearing Miuras!

Let's see...

An athlete/activist scales NY Times Building; A fashion editor notices Muiras.

Isn't that kind of like being "sick" and "fabulous" at the same time?

You Know You Read it in the Check-out Line: 66˚North Rocks Hollywood

I have a sneaking suspicion that the actual reader numbers of Us Magazine are a lot higher than the official circulation numbers. Who doesn't go to the dentist 10 minutes early just to catch up on the news? I mean, come on: it's Highlights (that oddly monochromatic kids rag) versus juicy gossip and glossy pages of beautiful people. And why is it that the check-out aisle copies are always a little dog-eared?

So, for those of you unwilling to admit your clandestine love for all things pop culture, I'll keep you up to speed. Check it:

Yes, that is Jake Gyllenhaal (with a certain Academy Award winner) sporting the 66˚North Glymur Jacket. Jake and Reese are pretty cute, but the Glymur is HOT!
